Why Magnesium Oil Is Such a Superstar

Magnesium oil is really starting to get the spotlight these days.

A recent Natural Grocers article is just one of many I've seen on the topic lately. I stumbled across magnesium oil during my search for a safe deodorant, and quite accidentally. My old homemade recipe for natural deodorant, while always reliable, was no longer working with my body chemistry anymore. It still worked great for my husband and daughter, but I was going to need to go rogue with my deodorant choice.

I found a Meow Meow Tweet product (check out that review here) that did the trick. It marketed itself as a "baking soda-free" option for those who had a sensitivity to baking soda. That wasn't necessarily my issue, however, I figured I'd give this option a try.

Lo and behold, it worked! Now I was curious. What was it about this deodorant that set it apart? Many of the other ingredients were the same ones in my baking soda version. Except for the essential oil choices and the magnesium hydroxide, I couldn't see a difference. That's when I began to take a closer look at the magnesium ingredient. Upon closer inspection, I learned that magnesium's benefits go way beyond simply being able to eliminate body odor.

Magnesium also:

  • Is good for brain health, which can help with depression, anxiety, stress, and more

  • Has been noted as helpful with calming, and helping with sleep

  • Can help with bone health

  • May help lower blood pressure

  • Can help fight inflammation

  • Helps with PMS symptoms

And these are just a few of the star qualities of magnesium.

If you are eating plenty of magnesium-rich foods, you are covered and shouldn't need a supplement. However, as always, be sure to talk to your health care provider if you feel you might want to explore a supplement.
