Water!

Many of us have probably heard that water is good for us. However, I often hear from clients that it's really difficult for them to keep track of how much water they have been drinking, even if they are shooting for a certain amount.

Here are some tips for this:

1. Use the same water bottle day after day.

Know how many ounces that bottle can hold, and then all you have to do is keep track of how many times you've filled up and drained the bottle. You will have to do some math with this, but the next point will help you...

2. Remember that you need about half of your body weight in ounces of water.

So if you are 160 pounds, you need 80 ounces of water. Kids (ages 3-12), however, need their entire body weight in ounces of water.

3. If all else fails, use the handy chart from the Cleveland Clinic.

You can use the chart in this article here to discern how you are doing by checking out your urine color in the toilet. <Spoiler: It better not be purple.>

In some parts of the world right now it's cold and the air is dry. Water will be your friend, just as it is in the hot and humid temperatures. Just because you aren't sweating does not mean that your need for water will decrease. In fact, if you are experiencing dry, flaky skin during the winter months, you will be surprised at what a difference proper hydration will make. And no matter what the climate, your body's digestive system always needs an ample supply of water to process things properly.

So grab a glass, add a fun straw, and drink up!
