The Journey Continues - Week 5
This post is the fifth in a series that chronicles my personal journey to better health. You can read the introductory post here.
It's the home stretch! My recital is officially NEXT WEEK!! I'm getting pretty excited. I'm also getting a bit nervous. But let's not talk about that, shall we?
We're still getting used to our housesitting gig. I'm trying to fiddle with my new surroundings and figure out how my routines should change to fit a changed schedule. We're much farther from things than we were at our last house, which is good in one way -- I'm getting a TON more cardio in every time we leave this house since we're either on bike or on foot.
Then again... I'm also having less of a motivation to go do the things I usually do, because they feel so far away. Hmm. Not sure how this is going to work out long-term. We'll see.
Progress-wise, I feel pretty good. The food continues to be a challenge everywhere I go. I had no idea how much sugar really does sneak into everything imaginable. It's fine if I'm not leaving the house. But temptation (and therefore, stomach aches) lurk around every corner! This week was particularly rough. Those addictions are hard to break, eh?
I've also discovered that my digestive system really dislikes wheat of any kind. Now that my eating is so clean, I have been able to isolate that one ingredient as one that triggers intense body changes, and not for the better. Luckily I'm not a big bread fan, but still... It's a bit like sugar in that it's in so many things. Who knew I'd be discovering these things about myself after all these years?
Next week I'll be juggling the planning for my daughter's birthday week activities in addition to preparing for the recital. Hopefully by then I'll have figured out how to adjust my morning routine to accommodate my family's schedule...
This week we had a couple of bumps in the road and it threw us off for on-time arrivals to places. I'm confident we'll get it down soon. Probably just in time for something to change again -- that's kind of how life works, isn't it
See you next week for the final post!
